Run & Relaxing Mother's Day

Instead of breakfast in bed for Mother's Day this year, there was a good reason to get out of bed early this Sunday..................... Too many of us know family or friends that have been affected by Cancer in some way, and the Mother's Day Classic is a fantastic national fundraising event in 74 locations to help raise much needed funds to assist in research and ultimately finding a cure. This year the event raised over $4million dollars!

It felt overwhelming running in a sea of pink with 850 other people who were all running for the same reason...not to win a trophy, not to achieve a PB but just to run for the cause. (correction...some did look like they were in it to win it, but most were just out to have fun for the cause...which I was reminded of when a guy overtook me wearing a bright pink polar fleece dressing gown!)

I  have not participated in a mass run like that since the city to surf in Sydney 6 years ago, so my heart seemed to be racing before I'd even started. It was also the first time since Ivy was born that I have left her at home, which felt very strange, and in turn also the first time I have been able to run without a pram strapped to my hand. Perhaps it was the culmination of all these things that made me 'well up' as I started to run.

Cam stayed home with our babes as Oskar was very sick the previous day and night and we hated to wake him early and bundle him out in to the chilly morning. There is always next year...and the next.

Even though it was not a 'race' for me...I did push myself and kept up with my stroller group coach and her 7 year old son!!!! and achieved my goal of completing the 4kms in 20 minutes.

I think the real winners of the day though were all the women that have been diagnosed with breast cancer, told it very politely to go shove itself and beaten it.... and of course all the amazing people out there supporting the charity to find a cure.

Guess who I ran in to volunteering at the water stand?.... Hello Mary!

After racing home to feed Ivy, Cam took Oskar out to give me some quiet chill time, so Little Ivy bird and I relaxed on the couch reading some mags!
Well...... I read, while she screwed them up.

I received a lovely book....which I am hoping to find time to read over the next 5 years!
We finished the day with cheese and wine on the deck with some neighbours and then Oskar made me a cheese and crackers cake! mmm yummy!

The following morning at the Kindy Mother's Day Brunch,Oskar was asked to draw him with his mum........ I was replaced with a leopard!

I know Mother's day is just a commercial money making scam for retailers out there....(which Cameron likes to remind me) but there is nothing wrong with a day just for us mum's....and after being one for the last 4 years...i don't think one day a year is actually enough!( kidding of course). ..........and there is nothing wrong with one more excuse to celebrate how great your mum is and to tell her how much you love her is there?

This is something all the kids did for thier mums....actually, the teachers did, but Oskar answered the questions for them....and I have since discovered that he doesn't know me at all. ..but I will forgive him.

I Hung out with my Little Bird today

A little Ivy Bird Update.

She is nearly 6 months old!!!! How did that happen?
Ivy and I have lots of time to hang out through the week and it is so nice to watch her develop so quickly. I can really take notice of the little things when it is just the two of us and give her all my attention... which I am very thankful for. I think she appreciates it too.

Ivy is talking and responding in sounds when you talk to her, laughing a lot, blowing lots of raspberries (which make me laugh every time), rolling on her belly, still sleeping all night, hates to lie down now and has to see the world upright.......so off we go!

We go for lots of runs at the beach, so mum can get fit again!

We go out for High Tea to celebrate new babies coming into this world!

...she loves to stand.

.....and Ivy has just started on solids this week ....she likes it!

Long Time, No Blog!

So, it has been a really really long time since my last post. We have been without a computer for a while and once back up and running a few weeks ago, I just couldn't rustle up the motivation to download all my pics to write an update.....however, its time and unlike my previous paper diaries I will not give up on this one!

I think it's best I start from today and quickly give a photo update of the last 2 months in the next few posts.

Many of you would have seen most of the pictures already, but remember this is my diary so I can remember these things in years to come so I can tell Oskar and Ivy all about it! Yes, my memory is terrible......... I must work on improving that.

This week's round up.....

The most perfect weather imaginable....so there was lots of blue sky.

We finally sold our scooter, and the Ducati is in the shop getting ready to be next! Bye Derbi..its been fun!
Oskar dug for fossils
We went to the Mudgeeraba Street Fair and out to lunch at our new local.

Had a visit from Ma and Pa

Ivy discovered it's 'the simple things' that keep her entertained!

Had a day in the garden transplanting Agaves, Frangapanis and some long spiky things!

...and discovered a new walkway for scootering in Mudgeeraba.

I Slept on a Car Today.......

We are constantly finding strange things in our bed....the other day we woke up to find I had been sleeping on one of Oskar's cars....and the another time a DVD case found its way under the covers at my feet. Just another thing to get used to living with a 3 year old.

Living with an 8 week old is proving very easy. She is now sleeping through the night and is a very happy little girl....it is Oskar who seems to be hard work at the moment. But we are all happy and doing well 2 months into our new family of four.

This will be the last post for a while until we buy a new computer. ...........back soon.

Sunday Swim

It's hot hot hot.....so what else to do but swim, swim swim and sit in the shade......and then go home and sit in the air conditioning

Sunday morning swim at my new favourite spot at Tallebudgera sitting on the grass under these.

No sand in the food...or nappies,  or blowing in Ivy's eyes as she lay on the towel, no umbrella to put up......perfect.

Oskar and I paddled on his board looking at the little fish swim by while Dad looked after sleeping Ivy.

Sharing Attention

Here is a little Ivy update for you Mum and Dad as I know you just want more, more photos.

She has put on 1.4kg and filling out. Sleeping and feeding very well and now waking only between 12-1am and 5 am overnight which makes for a more rested mum.  It's typical though that just when I go to nod off back to sleep at 5.30am...Oskar wakes up and needs attention...... which he also does at night sometimes.....Oh well...welcome to being a mother of 2!

Note for the grandparents- If you play these both at the same time you can see how much she has grown.
Ivy 2 weeks
Ivy 6 weeks

Ivy is reacting to us now and Oskar make her smile repeatedly this morning...it may have just been wind but it looked like she was reacting to his actions. Either way Oskar loved it.

Oskar is having his moments and what 3 year old wouldn't I guess having to share the attention, but when I spent a solid amount of time the other night settling Ivy...Oskar decided to draw on the TV and cabinet for attention and came in and announced...."Hey Mum I drew on the Movie!' in a very cheeky tone.

It is a very different experience this time round having to share the attention all the time and am slowly understanding more and more what Oskar needs to keep any jealousy at bay.......ie... don't spend 45 minutes settling Ivy otherwise the TV will get graffiti-ed!

I am still learning to juggle my time and tasks carefully to try and avoid more of this behaviour...which is why I must go now and prepare dinner now while Ivy sleeps and before Oskar comes home....as we should not have another dinner of cheese and crackers!

Riding along on my Push Bike .....

Ok... I am on a mission to sell all of our bikes in the shed..(too many to mention), and buy a cruiser bike which I am now lusting after,  to ride alongside Oskar and Cam along the beach. I feel if I publicly announce this mission, it may actually help us get into gear and actually sell this stuff we have been meaning to for years now.

Cam...you can get the baby seat adapter put on your bike for Ivy....... as it will simply get in the way of my Tule skirt I will be wearing!!!

When Cam came home and I told him about this new mission.....he handed me this which he had just bought to try for the first time....no kidding.....a coincidence?...or a sign?! FYI- a very nice little cider by Little Creatures!

Now, I just need to decide between a green and tan bike or the classic black and tan. A blue will match my future Karmann Ghia parked in our driveway...a girl can dream!...but everyone has blue these days!

Wish List- tan seat and handles, white wall tyres, a basket and at least 3 gears.

This could be me...if I lived in Melbourne and didn't have 2 children to cart around town with me................Court,  perhaps this could be you at your new Balmain address!....Audrey in the front basket perhaps?

First things first.......Let the bike clear out begin!

Summer Holidays!

Cam had a week off from work over Christmas/New Year and we enjoyed the sunny days at the beach as one should do when living on the Gold Coast. I feel very lucky to call this place home.

It went a little like this.

A day at Tallebudgera Lake.
The boys swam while Ivy and I watched from beneath a shady tree.
I forgot how easy babies are at this age...Ivy slept nearly the whole time we were there.

A few walks at Burleigh and a special reward for Oskar at the end of a long scoot.

Which he reluctantly shared with me......'just one bite mum...just one'
  Another sunny day at Tally................
..which Ivy slept through most of again......................Shared with Asha's family!

Now we just need to win Lotto so we never have to work again!

When we weren't lucky enough to go to the beach we stayed home trying to tidy up our garden which was starting to get  bit out of hand................it paid off.
Weeds......seriously these things are in steroids up here....mow the lawn and the next weekend the weeds have already grown 1 foot....I'm not kidding!
I had no idea Yukkas flowered until now!

A beautiful sky at the end of a Summer's Holiday.
